The San Antonio Railroad Tracks

A railroad crossing in San Antonio is said to be the site of a tragic accident and is believed to be the most haunted spot in Texas. In the 1930s, a school bus full of children stalled on an intersection of roadway and railroad tracks. A train appeared suddenly, speeding along the tracks. The train engineer saw the bus and frantically put on his brakes, but it was already too late. The train collided with the bus, killing the driver and his tiny passengers instantly. To this day, the spirits of the children linger at the crossing to protect others from a similar fate. When a car stalls or stops near the crossing, the ghostly children push it out of harm’s way. Afterwards, little handprints are found all over the back of the car.

Going off the Rails

The story of the haunted San Antonio railroad tracks has been told for generations. It has appeared on many TV shows, including Sightings, Unsolved Mysteries and Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files. The crossing attracts curious visitors from all around the country who want to recreate the phenomena. On Halloween, hundreds of people make the pilgrimage to the site in their vehicles, waiting hours for their turn to be pushed across the tracks by unseen forces. The adventure is a rite of passage for local adolescents, who visit the crossing at night with their friends to experience a haunting.
